In March 2012, Quatuor Zaïde completed a grand slam at the Haydn International Competition in Vienna, taking 1st prize in the competition and all three special jury prizes (Best interpretation of a composition by Joseph Haydn, of a composition from the Second Viennese School and of the commissioned composition.) Last September the GROUP also won 1st prize in the Beijing International Music Competition.
In 2010, only one year after its foundation, Quatuor Zaïde was awarded the International Press Prize by unanimous vote at the Bordeaux String Quartet International Competition, the 3rd Prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition (Canada) as well as 1st prize at the Charles Hennen International competition (Holland).
Quatuor Zaïde's frequent engagements have lead them to such prestigious concert halls as London's Wigmore Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Müsikverein in Vienna, Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, Jordan Hall in Boston and Beijing Concert Hall. They have toured in Germany, Holland, China, Italy, Belgium, Austria, and Greece.
Among other distinguished artists, the quartet has collaborated with are the cellists Julian Steckel, Jerôme Pernoo and the pianists Alexandre Tharaud, Bertrand Chamayou, Jonas Vitaud and Edna Stern.
Quatuor Zaïde’s repertoire is wide and varied, ranging from classical repertoire to contemporary music; for which the quartet has a special penchant. They play works by Iannis Xenakis, Wolfgang Rihm, as well as Jonathan Harvey, with whom they worked individually.
Since its foundation, the quartet has received regular instruction from Hatto Beyerle, violist and founding member of the Alban Berg Quartet, as well as from Johannes Meissl.
Mécénat Musical Société Générale is the principal sponsor of Quatuor Zaïde. The quartet was chosen as ensemble laureate of the HSBC bank at the Aixen-Provence Festival. Charlotte Juillard plays on a violin made by Joseph Gagliano kindly loaned by Mécénat Musical Société Générale.
